I was walking on the Southbank close to Millenium Bridge one lunchtime last week, the weather was sunny and very warm, and I was scouting for suitable infrared subjects with my Sigma SD Quattro ready prepared for IR. In his usual spot was the “bubble guy” entertaining the passers-by, I did not have time to put my camera back into regular shooting mode, so popped off a few shots in infrared.

The results actually worked out very well. The background ended up being very light thanks to the trees and their foliage. And the glare of the sun gave a rather ethereal and soft quality to the images. The camera itself handled very well, I needed it to be responsive to capture the right moment, there was a lot of movement and it was important to both nail focus and shoot at precisely the right time. I never considered the SDQH as an action camera, of course it is better suited to a more sedate subject, but I was pleasantly surprised how well it coped.
