Fire on Gresham Street – Tim Shoebridge

I just happened to be on Gresham Street in the heart of the City of London at the time of a major vehicle fire. I was able to shoot both video and stills with my Olympus OM-D E-M1ii. The video was shot in cinema4k and downscaled to 1080p. The lens fitted was the 12-100mm f/4 zoom.

Everything was shot hand-held, including the video. The in-body stabilisation of this camera is simply astounding. most of the time I was shooting with the zoom at its longest focal length. In turns out that the vehicle was a street sweeper / cleaner truck. The emergency services were on the scene extremely quickly and did an amazing job. Thankfully no-one was hurt.

I am a photographer and musician living and working in London UK. I have been engaged in photography for over 35 years, dating back to my early teens when I owned my first film camera, a Zenit-E SLR.

I had the great fortune at that early age to be able to start experimenting with developing film and making prints, and by the time I was 16 I worked in the darkroom of a major wedding photographers in South London.

In the years that have passed, photography has been a constant creative outlet for me, I also compose and record music and have been doing so all my working life. For the last five years I have adapted my skills to independent filmmaking and the composition of music suitable for soundtracks.
