Rainy Afternoon

This is just a little bite-size video that I shot today while waiting for the damn rain to stop! I shot it on the incredible Panasonic GH5 with 14-140mm G Vario lens fitted. No camera is perfect but for video the GH5 comes as close to perfect as any camera I have yet owned. The 14-140 lens does not have a particularly wide aperture but it is compact, lightweight, has a fantastic focal range and its stabilisation when combined with the GH5 is simply stunning to use.

All the footage you see here was shot handheld in full HD at 100fps, I did not apply any additional stabilisation in post production. The footage was shot in V-Log and to grade it I simply applied a LUT from the V-LOG DELUTS series by James Miller.

The camera does not record audio while in variable frame rate mode for obvious reasons, so audio was recorded separately onto my trusty little Zoom H1 with a “dead cat” attachment. I cheated a bit with the timing of the thunder, but hey, artistic licence! 😉

The brief soundtrack is just a couple of chord sequences extracted from a previous longer recording I made some time ago, but for the life of me I can’t remember what I called it.

PS. Note to self: Must get that gutter fixed!
