Reflex Lenses on the Fujifilm GFX 50R

In this video I take a look at a few different reflex lenses and test them out on the Fujifilm GFX 50R.

Reflex lenses – otherwise known as mirror lenses – were most popular in the days of film photography but seem to be a lot less popular now. Personally, I have always found the weird doughnut-ring bokeh they make to be rather appealing, and can be used artistically. Towards the end of this video are some examples of the types of image I like to shoot with reflex lenses.

I am a photographer and musician living and working in London UK. I have been engaged in photography for over 35 years, dating back to my early teens when I owned my first film camera, a Zenit-E SLR.

I had the great fortune at that early age to be able to start experimenting with developing film and making prints, and by the time I was 16 I worked in the darkroom of a major wedding photographers in South London.

In the years that have passed, photography has been a constant creative outlet for me, I also compose and record music and have been doing so all my working life. For the last five years I have adapted my skills to independent filmmaking and the composition of music suitable for soundtracks.
