Images of Tuscany 2018 – Post #6

There are plenty of lone trees and other subjects dotted across the Tuscan landscape. This particular one is located here. I photographed it from a little way eastwards on the Strada Provinciale (SP) 146.

The image was shot with the Fujifilm X-H1 and Zhongyi Mitakon 35mm f/0.95. Although I thought long and hard about taking a zoom lens with me to Tuscany, the 16-55 f/2.8, I opted instead to take four prime lenses covering that focal length range instead. In total I took six primes.

Despite the hassle of changing lenses on the fly, I prefer working with primes, they are sharper than the zoom which find to be quite sharp, very consistent across the frame, but not critically sharp when it comes to making big enlargements. The other main advantage of primes is their wide aperture which is great for some narrrow focus effects and for shooting cinematic video footage.
