Images of Tuscany 2018 – Post #10
Montepulciano is a hilltop town with breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. Although wonderful to look at first-hand, the problem with shooting a full panorama from a high altitude vantage point is that the resultant image rarely looks impressive. Instead, as I did with this image, I decided to pick out some details from the landscape using a telephoto lens.

The lens I used in this instance is the Voigtlander 70mm f/2.5, it has a Leica M39 mount and is designed for use on a rangefinder film camera. It is wonderfully sharp but incredibly compact and lightweight. On the Fujifilm X-H1 it has an effective focal length of 105mm.
There are plenty of vantage points within the old town itself for panoramic views, the image above was shot from this vantage point here looking out in a south-westerly direction.
